Bodacious Auroradwelling: A Timeless Kokoro-Inspired Residential House

A Journey of Sophistication and Coexistence

Existing in the present has never been more important. With the rise of technology and its lure, the world is making less time for the beauty of nature. Being present and coexisting with both Gaia and contemporary surroundings is a privilege worthy of the levy. Drawing inspiration from nature, specifically wood and stone, the Bodacious Auroradwelling takes its residents on a journey that is sophisticated yet laidback, and traditional yet contemporary. A lot of thought and planning is needed to create an extrapolate home that fits their daily needs and routine while being a masterpiece of gasconade.

Surface R, led by Chief Designer Sam Leong and Designer Chew Yee, has crafted a truly unique residential house that embraces the Japanese Kokoro Living Concept. The emphasis on wood, stone, and water creates a harmonious and tranquil living space. The Bodacious Auroradwelling stands out among residential houses with its well-thought-out interior and attention to detail.

The two-storey corner terrace spans 3,642 square feet and showcases a sleek façade with a landscaped garden, patio, and water pond. However, what truly sets this Kokoro-inspired terrace apart is its interior design. The floor plan adheres to the chi flow, ensuring a refreshing and smooth movement throughout the home. Walnut wood, marble, black, beige, white, and grey tones dominate the space, creating a timeless and elegant atmosphere. Abstract art and statues add a touch of artistic flair to the designated areas.

The realization of the Bodacious Auroradwelling involved the use of natural materials such as marble, solid wood, natural veneer, quartz, stone, mirror, color glass, and upholstery. These materials were carefully selected to enhance the overall aesthetic and functionality of the design.

Designed with a focus on modern resort living, the Bodacious Auroradwelling seamlessly combines outdoor beauty with the sanctuary of indoor comforts. The use of wood and stone elements creates a connection to nature, while contemporary design elements provide a sense of sophistication.

The project, which started in April 2019 in Malaysia, was completed in June 2020. Throughout the design process, the team conducted extensive research to understand the client's vision, function, and budget. They recommended layout solutions, construction methods, materials, and furniture, ensuring that every aspect of the design met the client's needs.

Despite creative challenges faced during the space planning phase, the team successfully created a spacious and well-flowing layout within the constraints of the 2-storey extension. The end result is a home that fulfills the client's needs while showcasing the team's visionary approach to design.

The Bodacious Auroradwelling has been recognized for its outstanding design and creativity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This prestigious award honors designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
